The Plan is Set: Galena, January 2021 !!

After much discussion, debate, and collaboration with CMH, we're dialed-in for our January 2021 heliski trip.  Here's the scoop, and how to reserve your spot:

The Plan:

Location: CMH Galena.  https://www.cmhheli.com/our-lodges/galena/  Known for its awesome tree skiing and great staff, Galena is a great fit for our group. I'm super-pleased we were able to get it for our group.

Dates: Jan 3-9, 2021.  Yep, 5.5 days of heliskiing.  Start training now.

The Lodge:  Galena is a fly-in lodge.  We'll fly into Kelowna (as we did in 2019), stay there for the night, then bus-ferry-helicopter to the lodge.  Included is:
  • 6 Nights’ of accommodation, (double or single) room occupancy
  •  5.5 Days of heli-skiing, 26,150 Meters included and guaranteed
  • All meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Use of powder skis and poles, snowboards, and mandatory avalanche safety equipment
  • A $5 CDN per day contribution to the HeliCat Canada Wildlife & Environmental Research Fund

Pricing: At current exchange rates, it'll be US$7,003.  Yes, a bit more expensive than last year, but a) it's a full day more than last year, and b) it's a remote lodge with a very cool vibe, and c) with 1.5 years lead time, there some extra time to set aside the $ - e.g. the extra $1000 is only a couple Starbucks lattes/week.  Make you own coffee and go heliskiing.

Team: I'm excited to announce that we have 22 spots on this trip!  That will mean we have 2 full groups of just us, i.e. 2 full helicopter groups of 11.  Will be a great time.

Special Events:  Yes, we'll organize this as a "Patroller Enhancement Seminar" as we did last year - Short seminars each night on topic of mutual interest.  No CME/CE credit, just interesting info.  And a formal-looking "Seminar Materials Compendium" for your tax accountant.

Sponsorship:  As last time, we'll be soliciting sponsors for our trip, and thus should have some good swag (we solicit goods only, not $).  For those that would like to help with this effort, give me a shout - pretty easy: (most) everyone likes ski patrollers and is open to supporting us.

Information:  And finally, as last year, we'll keep everyone up to speed with a trip blog: https://patrolheliskitrip2021.blogspot.com/   Please subscribe to ensure you get all the latest info.

How to Sign-up:

CMH opens booking for the 2020/21 on a rolling schedule, starting tomorrow, Oct. 21. No need to worry about that.  Our 22 spots are reserved and waiting for us.

Your action:  Later this week - I'll get a note out when they'll be ready for us - you'll need to call CMH, ask for Rylan Decorato, who's our contact for this trip, and give him your deposit.  He'll also have some paperwork for you to fill out.  The deposit is 20% of the trip price.  Remaining due a couple months before the trip.

We have a broad set of people interested.  Some are interested in taking family members. All good.  Just be sure to get your reservation in to lock in your spot.

So, stand ready to light this missile off.  Here we go again.
